STYLE GUIDE | How To Create A Flatlay in 5 Easy Steps

You bought a new pair of shoes and would love to present it nicely on your Socials? Or you just want to get creative and snap a few shots of your latest finds - read on to discover our 5 Easy Steps How To Create A Flatlay.

STEP 1 | FIND A BRIGHT, SPOTLESS BACKDROP

Whether it's a bright marble table, white wooden floors or just a white sarong - the brighter, the better! With this being said, you could rock white boots on a black timber floor, too!

STEP 2 | GATHER YOUR PROPS

Figure out a centrepiece - like our Sara Studded Loafers - and collect props in the same colour scheme. We love adding a glass of water for the light effects or catching sun rays in sunnies for an extra pop of brightness!

Photography books do not only look great as interior pieces, but are also the perfect add-on for any flatlay. Our favourite ones, amongst others, are HOLIDAY by Purienne, The Last Days Of Summer by Akila Berjaoui and the Le Petit Voyeur series - add them to your list of coffee table must haves!

STEP 3 | FILL IN THE GAPS

Once you have placed your centrepiece just fill in the gaps with pieces that belong to a similar colour category.

As props we love using

- photogenic fruits

- skincare in beautiful simple packaging

- your favourite jewels or frames

STEP 4 | SHOOT DIFFERENT ANGLES

Have a play around and shoot the flatlay not only from above but also from a side angle to catch different lighting to suit your look.

STEP 5 | PLAY AROUND WITH THE PROPS

You will see at the first glance on the display of your camera (iPhone is perfectly fine!) if props work or not. Have a play around and remove or add pieces as you go
